Martin's attitude toward building guitars has never waivered, which is why they are one of the most successful acoustic guitar builders in history. Spanning six generations and starting in the 1830s, Martin Guitars said is succinctly in the preface to their 1904 catalog," "How to build a guitar to give this tone is not a secret. It takes care and patience. Care in selecting the materials, laying out the proportions, and attending to the details which add to the player’s comfort. Patience in giving the necessary time to finish every part. A good guitar cannot be built for the price of a poor one, but who regrets the extra cost for a good guitar?"

Adopting change to benefit guitarists is one of the attributes that singles out Martin Guitars at the forefront of guitar manufacturing. From developing a 14-fret neck in 1929, to today, where they continue their investment in ecological responsibility, Martin Guitars continues their legacy and ongoing commitment to quality.

Today, Martin makes incredible guitars from composite materials such as High Pressure Laminate (HPL), Stratabond, and Richlite. The result is a line of guitars that still lives up to Martin's standards, but that are all also highly resistant to changes in temperature and humidity. Not only are they popular with guitarists on limited budgets, these instruments hold up to touring conditions heroically.

Over the years, Martin guitars have graced stages with some of the most skilled, impressive, and popular performers the world has ever seen. Today, musicians such as Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Chris Carrabba, Chuck Ragan, Jake Bugg, the guys in Frightened Rabbit and the Gaslight Anthem, Dallas Green of City and Colour, Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons and more all love their Martin guitars and make use of them at every opportunity.
