Gibson Custom Shop 1964 SG Standard Reissue w/ Maestro Vibrola, Cherry Red
Gibson Custom Shop 1964 SG Standard Reissue w/ Maestro Vibrola Electric Guitar, Cherry Red
The newest member of the Reissue family — the all-American Custom Shop Gibson 1964 SG Standard Reissue w/ Maestro Vibrola electric guitar is colored in a Cherry Red VOS finish with nickel hardware and a black multi-ply pickguard. Regardless of the fact that George Harrison and Eric Clapton rocked a '64 SG Standard, that model year was clearly a standout for SG's in general. The quality craftsmanship and sound excellence took the Gibson line to a whole new level.
This guitar is loaded with all of the hyper-accurate vintage specs one could possibly want, like a one-piece solid lightweight mahogany body with a solid mahogany neck boasting an authentic '64 medium C-profile home to a smooth and comfortable Indian rosewood fingerboard. The clunky side-pull vibrato was replaced by the dependable Maestro Vibrola, and the neck profiles had increased in size, resembling the profile found on the 1959 Les Pauls.
Loaded with a pair of Gibson Custombucker Alnico III unpotted humbucking pickups with CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers, black beauty capacitors and a three-way toggle switch, the balance, playability and look of this amazing Reissue SG seems to come into its own realm. With original construction methods, a real red aniline dye finish, chemically-recreated plastics, replica electronics and more, this guitar is perhaps the best looking, feeling and sounding SG Reissue yet!
