The Mad Professor Mellow Yellow Tremolo is a true sine wave tremolo effect designed for tremolo tones from the 50's type soft swing to deep modulation with great playability, regardless of tremolo depth or speed. The strength of the incoming signal is modulated by a sinusoidal oscillator, just like in the early amps, and modulation bias is set to give symmetrical modulation. This gives a very musical tremolo effect that blends very well with both clean and distorted guitar tones.

The level on the Mellow Yellow Tremolo is not a mixer control as on the phaser, but a master output control. There's quite a generous amount of extra gain available, so to save pedalboard space, you could even use the MYT as a solo boost, with or without the tremolo effect. It's subtle yet effective — the shape is smooth and reminiscent of old Fender amp tremolo, which is great for slow, bluesy rhythm guitar.
