Designed by then Gibson president Theodore "Ted" McCarty and only previously available as a limited edition Custom Shop model, the Gibson Theodore Standard is based on drawings and notes created by Ted McCarty in 1957. Built in America, this recreation features a balanced and exceptionally comfortable mahogany solidbody with double Florentine cutaways that provide unimpeded access all along the mahogany SlimTaper neck and classic Indian rosewood fingerboard.

A set of humbuckers made up of a powerful '57 Classic at the neck and a '57 Classic Plus at the bridge produce effortless sustain and a rich diversity of tones — hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors and shapeable by using the master volume and master tone, as well as the three-way toggle switch. The scimitar headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners gives it a unique appearance sure to stand out from the crowd.
