Gibson Custom Shop 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo, Vintage Sunburst
Prepare yourself for an acoustic guitar that proves to be a beautiful blast from the past — the Custom Shop model Gibson 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo is the definitive update of the SJ from back in the day, complete with all of the innovative appointments that made it such a fame of craftsmanship during the birth of rock 'n' roll. It's decorated in a thin finish nitrocellulose VOS Vintage Sunburst color, along with a tear drop pickguard and a set of nickel hardware.
Compact with all of the vibe of a vintage Gibson acoustic, the 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo features a J-45 body with a thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top on a rosewood back and sides — giving outstanding tonal response and superior playability. At home playing first position chords or picking lead blues licks, the Southern Jumbo is a versatile instrument. The body features a traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, with red spruce braces and a multi-ply top and back for ultimate comfort and support.
The neck is made from a mahogany build, showing off a classic C-profile that feels as smooth as ever to play. The rosewood fingerboard on top offers nineteen legend wire frets for period-correct authenticity, as well as mother-of-pearl parallelograms for a beautiful aesthetic. Proudly displaying the "Only a Gibson is Good Enough" banner on the headstock, this custom instrument also includes an open slot bridge, a bone saddle and nut, and the classic 1.77" nut width.
